We're excited to announce the screening of the film American Meat presented by Chipotle. The film is a solutions-oriented documentary chronicling the current state of the U.S. meat industry. American Meat features various farmers across the country who have changed their lives to start grass-based farms. It highlights Joel Salatin of Polyface Farms in Swoope Virginia, which is at the epicenter of the U.S. local food movement. Using unconventional techniques such as planting trees, building huge compost piles, digging ponds, moving cows daily and inventing sheltering systems, Salatin is able to produce all the animals on perennial prairie polycultures.
Chipotle is committed to food with integrity. Working closely with farmers and ranchers, Chipotle continues to ensure their operations create as small an impact as possible on the environment. They pledge to find the very best ingredients that are raised with respect for the animals, the environment and the farmers involved in the process.
The screening will take place Tuesday, October 8th from 8-10pm at the Alamo Ritz downtown and will feature a Q&A session immediately following the film.
